Huge Daytona housing development gets initial approval

DAYTONA BEACH — A sprawling 3,400-home residential development with a clubhouse and fitness facilities planned to be built northwest of the intersection of Interstate 95 and LPGA Boulevard received an initial approval from city commissioners Wednesday night that will help it move forward.

Commissioners unanimously OK’d rezoning 1,585 acres for the huge development across from LPGA International Golf Club for residents age 55 and older, dubbed the Minto Communities, that could also include up to 215,000 square feet of commercial uses.
