Huge Daytona 55-older housing development could start this year

DAYTONA BEACH — The largest housing development in Daytona Beach history is moving toward reality.

Pending some final permits, Minto Communities Florida now has the city’s permission to build up to 3,400 residential units and up to 215,000 square feet of commercial space on nearly 1,600 acres at the northwest corner of Interstate 95 and LPGA Boulevard. That housing total dwarfs Pelican Bay’s 1,800 units and LPGA International’s planned 1,600 units at build-out.
